Falcons fall to Patriots, 26-10

The Atlanta Falcons have a chance to prove they were among the NFL’s elite but fell well short of such categorization in a 26-10 loss to the New England Patriots.

Quarterback Matt Ryan showed he isn’t quite in Tom Brady’s class just yet, throwing for under 200 yards and no touchdowns.

Atlanta’s defense does deserve some credit for keeping the game close despite the struggles of their offense.

However, Brady and wide receiver Randy Moss were simply too much, allowing the Patriots to pull away in the fourth quarter.

The Falcons have a bye in Week 4 to regroup before their next game.

Falcons hold off Panthers, 28-20

The Atlanta Falcons weathered everything the Carolina Panthers could throw at them in a 28-20 victory.

Quarterback Matt Ryan rebounded from a slow start to have a big day. He finished with 220 yards and three touchdowns.

One of those touchdowns was thrown to tight end Tony Gonzalez, who has become a big part of the offense.

The Falcons nearly gave up a hail mary for a touchdown at the end of the game, which would have given Carolina a chance to tie the game.

However, it fell just incomplete, giving the Falcons a tie with the New Orleans Saints for first in the NFC South.

Falcons get past Dolphins, 19-7

The Atlanta Falcons opened their defense of the NFC South crown with a 19-7 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

While it’s usually the offense that steals the show for the Falcons, it was all about defense against the Dolphins.

The defensive unit forced four Dolphins turnovers, including two fumbles by tight end Anthony Fasano.

The offense didn’t play poorly, but it was just a quiet day for quarterback Matt Ryan, running back Michael Turner and wide receiver Roddy White.

Tight end Tony Gonzalez did make his presence felt, catching his first touchdown pass as a Falcon.

Ryan back at practice

Atlanta Falcons starting quarterback Matt Ryan has returned to practice, so all their fans can breathe easy again.

Ryan was out for a few days with an unspecified illness but appears healthy and ready to go for the season opener.

A lot of people are excited to see what kind of improvement they will see from the second-year quarterback this year.

As for the rest of the team, it’s worth keeping an eye on whether anyone else comes down with Ryan’s illness.

It’s very easy for illnesses to spread through a locker room in a hurry, which is a concern for the Falcons.
