The Atlanta Falcons have gotten an early start to the NFL Draft, trading their second round pick in 2010 for Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez.
While Gonzalez is no longer the Pro Bowl player he once was, he can still be very useful in a good offense.
The Falcons wanted to get second-year quarterback Matt Ryan another weapon in the passing game.
It should also help the team with the play-action pass, which could be used very effectively with running back Michael Turner and Gonzalez.
Gonzalez had asked for a trade from the Chiefs, who are stuck in a long rebuilding project.

With the news that Michael Vick is about to leave prison and be a free man, it’s interesting to take a look back at the Atlanta Falcons and think about the panic surrounding the organization after his arrest and subsequent sentencing.
Now, his release from prison will bring about barely any attention from the Falcons organization, which moved on more quickly from the situation than anyone could have possibly imagined.
The team managed to reach the playoffs just one year later behind quarterback Matt Ryan, who has replaced Vick as the face of the Atlanta franchise.
They also got plenty of help from free agent signing Michael Turner, who was one of the league’s best running backs last year.
Vick is still loved by many in the Atlanta area despite his crimes and letting the team down, but don’t expect him back in a Falcons uniform.
